Rotator Cuff Pain

Rotator cuff pain can make ordinary movements—reaching overhead, getting dressed, lifting groceries, exercising, or sleeping on your side—feel difficult. Symptoms may remain around the shoulder or travel into the upper arm, especially when the tendons become irritated.

But shoulder pain does not always reveal where the problem begins. The rotator cuff may be involved, but the shoulder blade, neck, upper back, posture, and movement patterns can also affect how the shoulder functions.

Ola—a state of lasting health—is built from the foundation up. Our goal is to identify what is placing stress on your shoulder and create a precise plan for better movement, greater stability, and lasting progress.

Rotator Cuff Pain

What’s Really Happening With Your Rotator Cuff?

The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that stabilizes the shoulder while helping you lift, reach, and rotate your arm. Irritation or injury can cause pain, weakness, and limited movement.

Irritation and Tendon Tears

Repetitive overhead activity, heavy lifting, sports, or a sudden injury can strain the rotator cuff. Damage may range from mild irritation to partial or full-thickness tears that make raising the arm difficult.

Symptoms and Shoulder Mechanics

Common symptoms include a deep ache, nighttime pain, weakness, clicking, and discomfort when reaching overhead or behind your back. Because the neck, upper back, and shoulder blade also influence shoulder movement, a detailed assessment can help identify the true source of your symptoms.

Our Approach to Rotator Cuff Pain

We will build your care plan once we understand what’s driving your pain. Plans follow our 3-stage Foundational Correction model:

Foundational Ergonomics

We assess how your posture, workstation setup, sleep position, and movement habits may be placing unnecessary stress on your shoulder and cervical spine.

Gonstead Chiropractic

If spinal misalignment is contributing to your shoulder pain, precise X-ray-guided adjustments address the cervical and upper thoracic vertebrae creating nerve interference or structural imbalance.

Foundational Movement

Spine and shoulder-specific exercises that reinforce structural correction, restore healthy range of motion, and reduce the risk of the shoulder pain condition recurring.
